Disclosing victim status could mean being denied that housing is even available. Women strong enough to flee their homes and their abusive situations were more likely to be denied housing outright, something that did not happen to people not disclosing. In the study, 65 percent of domestic violence victims were subjected to at least one form of discriminatory treatment.

1 in 33 Homeowners Projected To Be In Foreclosure Within The Next Two Years

Not only are 1 in 33 homeowners across the state facing foreclosure, but over 40.6 million homes are expected to lose value over the housing crisis to the tune of $356 billion over the course of the next two years. Homeowners are not better off in one state, North Dakota, where just 1 in 165 homeowners are facing foreclosure, than the worst state, Nevada, where 1 in 11 homeowners face foreclosure as North Dakota has neither foreclosure intervention regulations or laws, nor statewide counseling efforts, two of three state efforts to prevent further foreclosures, unlike Nevada.
