A close friend and I were talking about this crisis and how it is that a people who emerged from the horror of their own genocide could become such brutal participants in that of another people. That’s a whole other issue, one we should spend more time on here at GNN… but the key here is that this is more about psychology than politics. Israel is becoming (some would say it has been for a long time) a rogue state. They need a time of healing, a process to wash away their fear-based, survival-based paradigm. Like the South Africans before them, the only way to get them there is through international pressure. This crisis, though the work of extremists on both sides, offers just that opportunity.
