Haida Gwaii, also known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, has long been recognized as an ecological and national treasure. Its stunning landscape and natural beauty draw visitors from around the world. Although the natural environment is a source of pride and is closely protected by its residents, close to 26,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases are spewed each year into the atmosphere there. Why?
