Via Waxy: We asked more than 30 of our favorite music writers to pick just one song that sums up 2006—one fragile, downloadable fragment to drop in our time capsule, to be buried deep under the cornerstone of the PTW servers. We’ve collected all of them here as the Paper Thin Walls 2006 Mixtape, two CD-Rs worth of music soaked in signifiers...

Interesting findings from the Transparency International 2006 Corruption Perceptions Index. Some worrying signs for developed countries, with plenty of money. The United States, for example, is ranked at number 20 with a score of 7.3 and it's one of the countries with a deterioration in perceived levels of corruption. Australia comes in at 9, Britain at 11. And India comes in at 70 with a low score of 3.3.

Rove 'dukes it out' with NPR host over polling data

Can we bust this myth? The exit polls didn’t match the results in Ohio in 2004 and no one cared.

Elections with electronic voting machines can be easily stolen regardless of margin.

And then there are pre-voting bureaucratic issues that affect outcomes – e.g. GOP scaling back the numbers of voting machines in urban areas, or leaving flyers on cars falsely claiming that pre-registration or photo id is required…etc…

It sure si weird how they are trying to set it up so if they win…we won’t question the results.

This election is F**ked. I predict another stolen election on a major scale.

Officials Wary of Electronic Voting Machines

Rolling Stone, coming out soon, has a great article /follow-up to the Kennedy article. It DOES NOT look good for the next election. Expect the left to lose….even if they get the votes.

Democratic challenger Webb pulls ahead of GOP Senator Allen by one point in latest Zogby poll

Someone actually voted down on this? Do we have a republican in our midst?

    Lamont Defeats Lieberman in Primary

I doubt Lieberman has the class to get out. But he'll be browbeat out in the next few days, I'm sure.
