    • Streaming video used to record private life of Alaska sea lions

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Times

You could call it steamy video instead of streaming video: On an island in the Gulf of Alaska, cameras are providing video images and sounds of some of the most intimate moments of endangered Steller sea lions. During late May through early July, researchers get a peek into the breeding behavior of the dominant bulls. This time of year, the cameras are trained on mothers nursing their pups at the small rookery on Chiswell Island, 35 miles south of Seward.

FBI agents raided the offices of at least six Alaska lawmakers Thursday in a search for any ties between the legislators and VECO Corp., an Anchorage-based oil field services and construction company whose executives are major contributors to political campaigns. Agents conducted office searches in both Juneau and Anchorage belonging to Sen. John Cowdery, R-Anchorage, the Senate Rules Committee chairman. The senator stood by in Anchorage as authorities sifted through documentation. The offices of Senate President Ben Stevens, R-Anchorage; Kohring; Rep. Bruce Weyhrauch, R-Juneau; Sen. The Cult of Chris McCandless

I just watched this film and I am haunted. Although I knew about  Chris I had no idea that his journey killed him. I will forever remember him and I am better for knowing that he was bold and brave enough to do what he needed to do.

I am also very sad that he only found out to late that there is nothing without the company of others.

    His life will be remembered.

If anyone knows an email address for his family I would love to convey my respects(after all these years)
