    • Joshua Bells Plays the D.C. Metro

Posted by Jeff from Washington Post

Things never got much better. In the three-quarters of an hour that Joshua Bell played, seven people stopped what they were doing to hang around and take in the performance, at least for a minute. Twenty-seven gave money, most of them on the run -- for a total of $32 and change. That leaves the 1,070 people who hurried by, oblivious, many only three feet away, few even turning to look.

Boots Riley - The Coup's revered, thought-provoking MC "I have this suggestion: the soldiers should demand to be returned home, using any means necessary to make this happen," "This would lead to a swift end to this war, saving countless lives, bothU.S. and IraqiŠ Congress hasn't done more than give lip service to wanting the war to end. The people that are directly affected by this war are going to have to act."

This American Life - Ira Glass

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

Mr. Glass is a radio wonk who got his start as a 19-year-old intern at National Public Radio. He has since worked as an audiotape editor, a newscast writer and an education reporter. He became known for having a light, fanciful touch with common folks, and in 1995 he was asked if he had any ideas for a local show in Chicago.

      Self-Portraits Morph into Video

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

This is an interesting article on self-portraiture and the Internet. It does not mention my friend Jeff Harris whose Web sites shows a picture taken of him everyday juxtaposed against comments from readers e.g. February 17, 2007: "I kissed my best friend's wife. And she kissed me back. Why do I feel so guilty? And why don't I care?"
