Hillary Clinton braced for a do-or-die showdown in Pennsylvania on Tuesday by accusing rival Barack Obama of going negative and portraying him as too untested to be president.

"In a final flourish, Clinton released a new television ad Monday with images of Osama bin Laden and hurricane Katrina, as well as historical events like the stock market crash and the bombing at Pearl Harbor, to suggest Obama's not up to the task of handling major crises."

Mr. President, if they’re still shooting at you, you should be careful about declaring victory. If your soldiers, as they walk down the road, have to confront the possibility that each step might be their last because the locals have planted a bumper crop of IEDs, the fat lady hasn’t yet sung. If your policies are serving as the enemy’s greatest ongoing recruiting tool, the war is far from over. And most importantly, winning a battle - which you may or may not have done - is a significantly different thing from winning the war.

Is it just coincidence or is there something more sinister in the fact that four of the last six American presidents have been left-handed? Bill Clinton, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. all used their left hands for everything from brushing their teeth to signing their names and, on occasion, shaking hands. As it turns out, the two front-runners for their respective parties' presidential nominations today, Barack Obama and John McCain, are lefties as well.
