In or out of mating season, John Bolton in full swollen umbrage is never an edifying spectacle, which makes it all the more puzzling that producers insist on providing this diplomatic reject and rage-aholic with a peddler's license to lie, bluster, and fearmonger.

GOP Senators' Bid to Confirm Bolton Is Called Off

Posted by Billbar from Washington Post

Republican efforts to formally confirm John R. Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations hit an unexpected snag yesterday when a Republican Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee (R.I.) in a tough reelection bid said he could not support the diplomat until the Bush administration answers his questions on Middle East policy. "It is no secret that I have serious questions about this Administration's policies in the Middle East," Chafee wrote.

Senate panel scrubs vote on Bolton as U.N. envoy

      Posted by Billbar from Reuters

A U.S. Senate committee scrubbed its planned vote on Thursday on keeping John Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations, as a key Republican remained undecided on the nomination by President George W. Bush. Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee, the only Republican who has not publicly committed to supporting Bolton, sought more time, members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said. Chafee, locked in a tough re-election bid, faces a Republican primary election on Tuesday.

      Revoltin' Bolton

      Posted by j1o2n3a4s5 from Salon

or years John Bolton has been causing trouble with his aggressive style and committed aversion to international law or compromise. Since he serves as the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. only through a duplicitous temporary presidential appointment, he has been compelled to again to submit to the indignity of questioning by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Clearly Ambassador Bolton is offended by this exercise, and evidently does little to conceal his contempt for the proceedings and its participants. Doesn’t this arrogance just illustrate the problem with Bolton again?

Praise at Home for Envoy, but Scorn at U.N.

Posted by Billbar from New York Times

“My initial feeling was, let’s see if we can work with him, and I have done some things to push for consensus on issues that were not easy for my country,” said an ambassador with close ties to the Bush administration. “But all he gives us in return is, ‘It doesn’t matter, whatever you do is insufficient,’ ” he said. “He’s lost me as an ally now, and that’s what many other ambassadors who consider themselves friends of the U.S. are saying.”
