      Posted by Sandyenglish

Delegates at the first conference of the newly formed University and College Union (UCU) of Britain voted May 30 to recommend a boycott of Israeli universities and academics. In a 158 to 99 vote, the delegates passed a motion condemning the “complicity of Israeli academia” in the 40-year occupation of Palestinian land and backing a call by Palestinian unions for a “comprehensive and consistent international boycott of all Israeli institutions.”

RIAA vs. college students, Gizmodo boycott

      Posted by Jeff from BoingBoing

What does it say about society when students rallying against record companies while there is a war going on in Iraq? "The RIAA recently sent out 400 "pre-litigation settlement letters" to students accused of illegal downloading at 13 universities, and launched p2plawsuits.com, where the accused are invited to avoid lawsuits by turning themselves in and paying fines online."

I certainly hope that Artists will join in a boycott against Michaels. As I see it, they have not only contributed to attack ads, but they owe many Artists/ buyers a lot of money due to inferior products purchased there. Mainly canvas that warp, as no one will purchase an original piece of artwork that has warped to the point of being not able to be framed due to the degree of warping that takes place using Michaels' Brand canvases. The canvas work will hang properly on any wall and will jut out from the wall by 4 inches or more. This is not appropriate and I am PO'd for Michael's backing of the Bush Adm. But I am extremely PO'd for being responsible for the damage to many fine art originals that cannot be offered for sale. I am stuck with many canvases which have great art, but are rendered useless by shoddy workmanship and inferior woof strtcher bars. I actually think they use bals wood?
