      Posted by Sandyenglish

Lebanon stands on the brink of all-out civil war. A general strike by the leading trade union to protest rising prices and demand an increase in the minimum wage has led to armed conflict between the pro-Western Sunni and Druze-based government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and the Shia-based Hezbollah and its ally, Amal.

    • Andrew Cockburn: Secret Bush Finding Widens Covert War on Iran

Posted by Damianmann from Counter Punch

Six weeks ago, President Bush signed a secret finding authorizing a covert offensive against the Iranian regime that, according to those familiar with its contents, unprecedented in its scope. George W. Bush's Disapproval Rating Now Tops Richard Nixon's

    Ironic..

First credible Black/African American running for president (not my opinion)

    First Women running for president

"no President has ever been this unpopular"

First elderly president 70 running for president

We can stipulate his rating is low.  We allowed him to talk us into finishing what Bush Sr. started. Get Saddam out of power and watch him hang (I’m sure he watched the youtube video). He will be remember for that and if he’s the Sociopath most think he is, that’s all he cares about. Having a approval rating that now tops Nixon’s means what. He doesn’t care if you like him.

Iran Top Threat To Iraq, U.S. Says

I can almost at this point garuantee that the sabre rattling will spill over into a declaration of war some time around Fall, at which point the administration will insist that the only group capable of dealing with the (manufactured) threat are, naturally, the GOP.

Anyone not voting for McCain will be branded a terrorist sympathizer, and the U.S. will wind up with either McCain at the helm or a seriously handicapped democrat, because, face it, when the xenophobic part of the average North American’s conscience is stimulated, it tends to come out in full force and steamroll any chance of cooler heads (diplomacy) prevailing.

I do hope I’m just being wildly cynical, though.
