    • I am data; politicians micro-target me to get elected

      Posted by VincebusEruptum from Scholarsandrogues

To our presidential candidates, I am not a human being: I am a set of data points, one of about 168 million sets of data points collected by both the Democratic and Republican national committees. Presidential candidates will base their direct-mail, push-poll, robo-call and volunteers-knocking-on-my-door messages on computerized analyses of me as data. I will be micro-targeted by candidates’ campaign organizations for the sole purpose of producing a vote...

If politicians can be bought, the public must do the buying

      Posted by srpr from Scholarsandrogues

If you and I — the electoral “we” — share dismay, disgust and despair over the overt and covert roles of corporate and special-interest money in politics, then it’s time buy back our government and our democracy. It’s time to outbid the corpo-kleptocracy for the largesse and lawmaking of our politicians.

Obama launches 2008 White House bid

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Post-Intelligencer

    • Polls Lagging, Lamont Gives Campaign $2M

Posted by Jeff from CBS News

Lamont has given $8 million to his campaign. Lamont's personal wealth has been estimated at between $90 million and $300 million, according to his campaign. Kind of sad that the Senate is so expensive to win these days. Government for the rich. It would be great to get rid of Lieberman but I wish it was more grassroots and less Ned's bank.

I think he may face a lot of what Dean had to deal with. It’s not going to be easy. They’re gonna pile on this guy.

Could be a great step on the long road to get big money out of politics. Cheers to Gregoire for knowing how to move the ball downfield.
