Wanted: Husband with Canadian health care

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Jeanne is a friend and a cancer survivor. She lost the lottery for a cancer free life and in our country has to pay tooth and nail for the right to drugs and treatment. I think it's unconscionable that our country operates in this manner.

    • Matching Cancers With the Best Chemical Treatments

      Posted by Jeff from Slashdot

"When oncologists meet a new patient affected by a cancer, they have to take decisions about the best possible treatment. Now, U.S. researchers have devised an algorithm which matches tumor profiles to best treatments. They've used a panel of 60 diverse human cancer cell lines from the National Cancer Institute — called NCI-60 — to develop their "coexpression extrapolation (COXEN) system." As said one researcher, "we believe we have found an effective way to personalize cancer therapy."

    How to marry a Canadian

Hi, I am Canadian, and I feel for my American brothers and sisters. I would marry you in a second, or any American that needed help with healthcare.

    Darker fruits could fight cancer

Nothing new here, except the more exotic the better it seems. Make sure to eat your fruits and vegetables…

Medication errors common in kids with cancer - Cancer

I know I’m biased, but I really believe my hospital must have much better rates than this. We have some pretty hard-core quadruple-checking mechanisms in place. It’s possible to reduce medical errors, but it’s more difficult in smaller community hospitals where they are not dealing with such large volumes of patients and standardization is less of a reality.

Suppressed report shows cancer link to GM potatoes

Strange story – it’s a Russian study .. sorry if I’m skeptical … but the suppression must have been for a reason (not a good reason).

    GMO is a disaster.
