    • Cheney's Link to Sen. Ted Stevens Corruption Trial

      Posted by Jeff from Newsweek

Two days later, Cheney wrote a letter to the Alaska Legislature urging members to "promptly enact" a bill to build the pipeline. The letter was considered unusual because the White House rarely contacts state lawmakers about pending legislative matters. It also angered state Democrats, who accused Cheney of pushing oil-company interests. The former executive director of Cheney's energy task force had gone to work as a lobbyist for British Petroleum, one of three firms slated to build the pipeline. Stevens confirmed to NEWSWEEK last week that he asked Cheney to write the letter.

Bush claims executive privilege on CIA leak

      Posted by Jeff from MSNBC

Waxman held off an immediate contempt citation of Mukasey, but only as a courtesy to lawmakers not present Wednesday and to give all members a chance to read up on the matter. He made clear that he thinks Mukasey, who requested that Bush invoke executive privilege to shield the records, has earned a contempt citation.

    • It was oil all along

      Posted by Damianmann from Consortiumnews

Oh, no, they told us, Iraq isn't a war about oil. That's cynical and simplistic, they said. It's about terror and al Qaeda and toppling a dictator and spreading democracy and protecting ourselves from weapons of mass destruction.

Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technologies to Iran

      Posted by theangryindian from Projectcensored

According to journalist Jason Leopold, sources at former Cheney company Halliburton allege that, as recently as January of 2005, Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian oil development company. Leopold says his Halliburton sources have intimate knowledge of the business dealings of both Halliburton and Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran's largest private oil companies.

The approval of Mukasey’s appointment was another act of doubling down by the Democrats in Congress. There were warning signs about Mukasey – but the Dems approved the appointment because they were saving the real battle for November.

Iran Top Threat To Iraq, U.S. Says

I can almost at this point garuantee that the sabre rattling will spill over into a declaration of war some time around Fall, at which point the administration will insist that the only group capable of dealing with the (manufactured) threat are, naturally, the GOP.

Anyone not voting for McCain will be branded a terrorist sympathizer, and the U.S. will wind up with either McCain at the helm or a seriously handicapped democrat, because, face it, when the xenophobic part of the average North American’s conscience is stimulated, it tends to come out in full force and steamroll any chance of cooler heads (diplomacy) prevailing.

I do hope I’m just being wildly cynical, though.

Dick Cheney Inc. Micromanaged and Orchestrated Torture Interrogations | BuzzFlash.org

tiger-I agree totally, but if our elected reps in D.C. won’t move to impeach over a treasonous act such as outing a CIA operative, this latest revelation will wind up being swept aside by the corporate media for more up-to-the-minute report on "American Idol". Sad, isn’t it?-watching what once was considered the greatest country on the face of the planet; sink to the depth of a local banana republic. Hey cheer up, can’t wait til next weeks revelation of corruption within this Bush Cabal reaches the light of day!!!!!!
