China denies having weapons agents in US

      Posted by Billbar from Reuters

"The so-called allegations that China is conducting intelligence collection on military or science and technology in the United States are purely fictitious," spokesman Liu Jianchao told a regular news conference. A Taiwanese man who worked as a sales representative for the Pentagon's biggest supplier pleaded guilty on Wednesday to plotting to ship to China advanced U.S. weapons, including an F-16 fighter engine and nuclear-capable cruise missiles.

In a Scientist's Fall, China Feels Robbed of Glory

Posted by Billbar from New York Times

Not very long ago, China saw itself as a nation on the verge of a technological breakthrough. But today, China appears shocked and shamed by a scandal that has already begun to tarnish that vision. Chen Jin, who became a national hero in 2003 when he said he had created one of China's first digital signal processing computer chips. On Friday, however, the government said it was all a fraud.

      Urban Agriculture China Arcology

      Posted by j1o2n3a4s5

Arcology is urban infrastructure in three dimensions, with architectonic(space-making) attributes, informed by the ecosystem model. It can be built within existing cities or in rural areas. Rapidly emerging problems in China's southern coastal urban areas already provide a need and a context to realize the arcology "seed" design described here. Beside feasibly addressing current problems, arcology's significance and value will probably increase as ecological/resource problems intensify in China and elsewhere. Additionally, Hong Kong is seen as a positive "green" influence for green technology transfer and advanced design services implied by arcology.

China Demands Return of Gitmo Detainees

Posted by Billbar from Yahoo News!

China on Tuesday demanded the return of five Chinese Muslims released from the Guantanamo Bay detention center, denouncing a U.S. decision to allow them to seek asylum in Albania. "These suspects should be sent to China as soon as possible," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao.

      Chinese reoccupying Russia?

      Posted by j1o2n3a4s5 from gnn.tv

Land ceded to Russia by a weak Chinese government in the nineteenth century has ever since been seen by many Chinese to be a target for retrieval like Hong Kong or Macau. Now, with Russians across the border suffering economic hardship, and the Chinese becoming stronger, the re-sinification of Outer Manchuria might become a reality. It won’t be pretty if it does.

The Chinese and Russian governments remain friendly, but if Wall is right, then the people do not. If Putin makes a wrong step in his Gas peddling, the consequences could be serious.

    Hacker Uncovers Chinese Olympic Fraud

One of the many tragedies of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina three years ago was the fact that insurance companies used the event to systematically deny claims, leaving victims further in desperate straits. That shouldn’t happen following any natural disaster, and even though the immediate storm effects did not cause as much damage as predicted, there are sure to be plenty of claims for flood damages throughout the Midwest and along Gustav’s path. If you or someone you know has been denied an insurance claim related to Gustav: that would be a site you should visit.

Amanda Beard Nude Olympic Anti-Fur Protest Shutdown

After watching an appalling video of stray cats and dogs being stuffed into wire cages like sardines, dropped off the side of trucks, and skinned for their fur, it's easy to see why Amanda Beard felt the need to shed light on the situation... hope it reduces the suffering and grim fate of future animals.

    Hacker Uncovers Chinese Olympic Fraud

This is typical of how the IOC has bowed very low to China in every way, regarding these Olympics.  From lax to a lack of, enforcement of even the mildest of prerequisites China agreed to in order to secure Beijing as the host city, to staying mum while China stops athletes from competing based on their politcal beliefs, the IOC have shown what they are really about: the money!
