Journalism in the Hands of the Neighborhood

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

“We are uncomfortable with the term ‘citizen journalism,’ ” said Todd Wolfson, 35, a doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania and one of the organizers of the Media Mobilizing Project in Philadelphia. “We prefer the term ‘community journalism.’ ”

    • CNN Opens Up with iReport.com

      Posted by Jeff

Time Warner’s CNN this week will enter YouTube territory with the launch of iReport.com, a new Web site built entirely on user-produced news. And unlike CNN’s own properties—where only iReport submissions that have been handpicked by editors and checked for accuracy ever make it online or on air—the new site will be wide open, allowing users to post whatever content they choose, CNN said.

      The Secrets Behind PostSecret

      Posted by Orato

PostSecret began three years ago as a creative idea for an art show exhibit, which just happened to change Frank Warren’s life. Following these footsteps has involved a number of sacrifices. I'm watching my two-year-old son grow up in pictures, missing birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. But even more than that, my faith in humanity has suffered a pretty significant hit. You can't see the things we see and not wonder about our species...

      Scott Chubb's Credibility Under Fire

      Posted by Orato

Much to everyone's chagrin we went to court with the knowledge we would be sitting through Day Two of Scott Chubb's cross examination. But things got a little heated. “You can attack me, you can attack my character, but I am not on trial for six counts of murder,” was one of Chubb's very heated replies that flew in the courtroom today.
