Some obvious questions with a United Nations report warning that climate change will produce devastating heat waves, floods, water shortages and disease, and with voters going to the polls on Saturday. In Australia, the report warns that we face significant loss of biodiversity in areas like the Great Barrier Reef, water security problems, reduced production from agriculture, rising seas and more storms.

How do you make companies and countries go green? the fundamental issue is coming up with a scheme that will provide incentives for the developing world to cut emissions. Sustaintability and insurance risks

One of the many tragedies of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina three years ago was the fact that insurance companies used the event to systematically deny claims, leaving victims further in desperate straits. That shouldn’t happen following any natural disaster, and even though the immediate storm effects did not cause as much damage as predicted, there are sure to be plenty of claims for flood damages throughout the Midwest and along Gustav’s path. If you or someone you know has been denied an insurance claim related to Gustav: that would be a site you should visit.

US business in the dark on climate change

I’m sure Canadian businesses aren’t far behind, though there’s an imbalance in the average created almost exclusively by the corporations making their living off exploiting the northern Alberta (Athabasca) Oil Sands – with virtually zero consideration for even the local biosphere or environment.
