Studies: CO2 output must cease altogether

Posted by Jeff from Washington Post

The task of cutting greenhouse gas emissions enough to avert a dangerous rise in global temperatures may be far more difficult than previous research suggested, say scientists who have just published studies indicating that it would require the world to cease carbon emissions altogether within a matter of decades.

FirstGroup to Cut CO2 Emissions by 20-25%

      Posted by Jeff from Feeds.treehugger

FirstGroup, a rail and bus service operator, have announced a plan to reduce emissions by 20-25%. This is significant, as the company makes 2 billion passenger journeys per year. The plan involves training drivers in energy-efficient driving styles, and also switching some vehicles to biofuel. By the end of the decade the company want to reduce bus CO2 emissions by 25% and rail emissions by 20%. If they manage it, then they will have saved a quarter of a million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2020...

And also do you know how many countries paid us back for the led-kease program in WWII.  1 I think it was Demark or NOrway, but only 1 country paid us for the stuff we sent them during WWII.  And afrter the war we rebuilt the countries we were at war with.  The EU owes us more than to try and scam us into a trarty that would ruin our ecoomy.

And that is not even including the fact that none of the EU countries have even complied with the Kyotot traety.  We actually have deon a better job woth CO2 than all of the countries in the Eu conbiined,

It is kind of strange when facts get into the way of feeling good about doing somethin that has no real influence on the Climate.

Yes even when we breathe air that is pristine it is harmful to us.   It kills human cells.  Having too much of anything in a human body will be harmgful, but equating the human body to the Earth is a bit of a stretch.  Man that is a doosy.  I never heard of equuating eating broccoli to CO2.  That is new one I have never heard

If we cut  down the CO2 the holy grail of biofules will dry up.  Plants will not grow in abundance as they do now.  Man what have peope been taught in school  This is basic science.  Thatmay be a good thing and all the Ozone it producess  will not harm us.  Maybe we should cut down on CO2 and then the plants don’t grow and the biofuels will not produce harmful ozone.  Wow   What a concept.  Thenpeople will be able to breathe the air and not get sick.

I thik this guy has a good concept and hopefully we can use it on a bigger scale and use it to power vehicles and power  plants.  It is in its infancy, but it looks pretty promising if it can work in a more powerfu way to make enrgy for cars and power plants,  And it will not harm the environment like biofules and battery cells.

See, and he didn’t have to be forced by the government to do this.  The average man will create anything better than the government can any day.

And I meant to say 3 Mile Island before.

Carbon is a building block of life, not CO2…  CO2 is a compound that is present in many different cycles of life.  What you’re suggesting is that because CO2 is necessary to certain natural systems, too much cannot hurt?  That’s like saying you need food to live so eating too much isn’t a problem.  Your thinking might actually help explain the pandemic of obesity in the U.S. today…  Even broccoli is a pollutant if you eat enough of it, in fact broccoli has mild toxins in it.  Natural systems hang in balances, too much or to little of something causes problems.

Germany hard work. Um how do you work hard with life emplotment, 6 monthsof vacation. And if you haven;t noticed we payfor Germany, French, and the rest of the EU’s defence.  Without us and Great Britain, NATO would be nothing. We also pay over half of the UN dues.

And when was the lasttime you heard one of the Envrionmnetalist say we should use Nucelar energy, never.they hat ethat too, even though it is the cleanest way of making energy yo date.  But they all watched 2mile Island and Chernobol. Well,  2 MIle Islan did not leak a significant amount of radiation and Chernobol waspoorly made in the Communist Russian style of construction.

Yes we should curb pollution, like pollutants.  Not CO2 which is not a pollutant. It is a building block of life, and without it, we would not be able to live.

Sorry Carlos, due to your grammer being a bit off I am having a hard time understanding what you are trying to say.

Are you saying we supported China, France and Germany?  How?

I thought France is heavily into nuclear power?

How we supported China and Germany I cannot fathom.  They acheived everything they have through hard work.

I am simply talking about waste.  We waste way too much.  Yes it is your right to waste but should you do it?  Is it helping the world around you?  This "because I can" attitude now prevails in the US.  Yes you can drive a V8 and afford the gas but to what avail?

It is in our best interest to work with other countries to curb pollution.  If pointing to China and saying "well they do it" is not beneficial in the long run.
