Stewart & Colbert Mock New Yorker Cover

Posted by Jeff from National Review

In the midst of re-creating the controversial New Yorker cover illustration of Barack and Michelle Obama for the cover photo that graces this week's print edition of Entertainment Weekly, Jon Stewart stops briefly to pose a taste question. As he stands by the catering table in ''secret Muslim'' garb, he ponders, ''Would it be weird to be dressed like this and have a bagel, salmon, and a schmear?''

Colbert at White House Correspondent's Dinner 2006

      Posted by Jeff from video.google.com

Stephen Colbert's courageous tenacity speaking truth to power at the 2006 White House Correspondents dinner deserves another look. He was mocking McCain as a maverick before the Bush administration had rearranged the deck chairs on the Hindenberg. McClellan and Scalia are there too and some not so subtle jabs at the press core for failing to take on the administration. I am still in awe that he prepared the second half of the act despite having fully expected to be yanked from the podium.

Emanuel tells freshmen to avoid Stephen Colbert

Posted by Jeff from The Hill

Rahm - have you no levity? “He said don’t do it … it’s a risk and it’s probably safer not to do it,” said Rep. Steve Cohen. But the freshman lawmaker from Tennessee taped a segment that last week was featured in the 32nd installment of the “Better Know a District” series. Colbert asked Cohen whether he was a black woman. He isn’t.

Running for office? Better run from Colbert

Posted by Billbar from Los Angeles Times

Most politicians are as likely to pass up free TV face time before an election as they would be to refuse a campaign check. Then again, there's a price to be paid for looking stupid. That's what members of Congress have learned recently about "Better Know a District," a sarcastic weekly skit that is part of "The Colbert Report," a nightly half-hour on Viacom Inc.'s Comedy Central network.

...it took 232 years, but someone finally did it. Mr. Colbert stripped the political skin and got inside. He showed tact and bearing and still got the truth out. Being a Jon Stewart fan, Stephen frustrates me with his devil’s advocacy but it’s still a good day for democracy. Notice the periods of silence. Stephen Colbert should have a sho- oh wait…
