    • Senate approves Wild Sky wilderness

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Times

For the fourth and what supporters hope is the final time, the Senate has approved a bill to create a Wild Sky Wilderness northeast of Seattle. If approved by the House and signed by President Bush, the bill would be the first new wilderness area in Washington state in more than 20 years.

    • Democrats fear next president faces Iraq 'quagmire'

      Posted by Jeff from Rawstory

Anti-war Democrats Wednesday accused the White House of plotting to saddle the next president with a "quagmire" in Iraq, as the top US war general faced a second day of intense scrutiny in Congress. Biggest set up ever? Dem Congress should have forced Bush into withdrawal after 2006 win...

Lessig Bets On the Net To Clean Up Government

      Posted by Jeff from Slashdot

Larry Lessig really 'gets it' when it comes to the efficacy of distributed open source code production. Now he is attempting to use distributed production methods to expose corruption in the US Congress with the launch of another 'CC' organization - this time it's called 'Change Congress'. CC (as opposed to cc for Creative Commons) would invite users to track whether US legislators are willing to commit to Change Congress' four pledges. CC will rely on users to record and map the positions of candidates who are running for open seats in the US House and Senate. Change Congress will use a Google mash-up to create a map depicting which legislators have taken the CC pledge, which have declined, and which have signaled support for planks in the Change-Congress platform

    • Rapid Pentagon Report on Saddam's Iraq Censored?

      Posted by okami from Blogs.abcnews

ABC News' Jonathan Karl Reports: The Bush Administration apparently does not want a U.S. military study that found no direct connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda to get any attention.  This morning, the Pentagon cancelled plans to send out a press release announcing the report's release and will no longer make the report available online.

Bush claims executive privilege on CIA leak

The approval of Mukasey’s appointment was another act of doubling down by the Democrats in Congress. There were warning signs about Mukasey – but the Dems approved the appointment because they were saving the real battle for November.

Democrats May Kick Out Joe Lieberman If He Addresses The Republican National Convention

Addressing the Republican convention would be in the true spirit of "reaching across the aisle"...  republicans have been doing it for years and it would be a welcome change.

About time.  After the ‘08 elections, we won’t need Joe anymore.   If the Republicans can stand him, they can have him.

Senate Passes FISA Bill, Gives Telecoms Immunity

Very disheartening. Exactly what has the 2006 Democratic victory in Congress brought us? Nothing I say.

Boil Them In Big Oil? Let’s Start With You! : Conservative Politics Today

The old saying is still true. "Figures don’t lie, but liars can figure."  Move to hydrocarbon free energy ? Great idea !  Build "green" homes ? Another great idea. Build a religion around blaming human activity for global warming ? Not so good.  The man behind the curtain will always be exposed.

I hate these kind of stories. But, at the same time, the hypocrisy has to be exposed.
