BBC hostage in Gaza 'treated very well'

Posted by theangryindian from Turkish Press

Palestinian militants released on Friday the first video of BBC reporter Alan Johnston since he was kidnapped 80 days ago, in which the journalist said he was in good health and being well treated. "First of all, my captors have treated me very well. They've fed me well, there's been no violence towards me at all and I'm in good health," said a pale Johnston, wearing a red sweatshirt and seated before a black backdrop. There was no indication as to when the relatively sophisticated Interne

An American soldier was killed inside Pakistan yesterday after an attempted peace meeting on one of the world’s most sensitive borders erupted in gunfire. Several other Nato troops were wounded amid sensational claims that Pakistani forces were responsible. Pakistan said that one of its troops also died in the clash, but blamed militants for the shooting. The meeting had been convened after two days of skirmishes across the border with Afghanistan left 13 dead. US and Afghan forces had t

    • TODAY'S ZAMAN: Turkey plans to Invade Iraq

      Posted by theangryindian

The leaves of military personnel have been canceled and additional forces have been deployed to the border with Iraq as the military apparently prepares for an operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Judge: Saudi threats apparently 'rolled over' British government

I also listen to Malloy and he does not report on nearly as much alternative news as we do here or I do on my own Indigenist newsblog. Raw Story and Common Dreams seems to be his main alt-news sources. I’m not sure how much he knows about portals like ours. Drop him a line, maybe he’ll give us a look-see.

Pretty amazing story. I heard about this on Mike Malloy last night.

He always complains about the lack of a free press – but hey, we’re here sharing stories like this!

Black Oil Spill in Kerch Strait

I think this spill should have received far more attention here in the US than it did. What happened in San Francisco around the same time pales in comparison to this mess.

This is a shame, Russia should be a more dedicated hosting to its environment. Good post, keep up the good work.
