Democrats Link Bad Economy to Iraq War | Politicususa

      Posted by jasoneasley

This week's Democratic was delivered by Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and focused on the beginning the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war, and its costs at home and abroad. Menendez started by praising the troops then said, "When it comes to honoring and supporting our troops and their families, Democrats and Republicans stand as one. But when it comes to the decisions that got us into the war - and the flawed policies that keep us there - Democrats stand firmly apart from our Republican friends. In 2003, President Bush took us to war on the wings of a lie."

    • Does Obama advisor Power know a monster when she sees one?

      Posted by RussWellen from Scholarsandrogues

She's since become one of Obama's main foreign policy advisors. Now Ms. Power may have become a "Problem from Hell" (the title of her classic book) for the Obama campaign. But bear in mind that she is likely the last person to toss around the word "monster" lightly. Her book is about genocide!

Sandy…that’s EXACTLY what his point was. Patrick Martin missed the point completely.

Bill Clinton wanted to be the left-wing Reagan. Wouldn’t you say? He was after those same voters.

    Also:

"Thomas Frank wrote a best-selling book four years ago (What’s the Matter with Kansas?), which examined this process in his home state, and his conclusions about the use of coded appeals to religion to induce voters to ignore their own economic interests have become conventional wisdom in ruling class political and media circles.

"While Frank’s book had certain insights into American culture and politics, he ignored the most fundamental factor enabling the Republican appeals to prejudice and backwardness to produce electoral successes—the drastic shift by the Democratic Party to the right and its abandonment of any policies to alleviate economic inequality or improve living conditions for working people.
