Edwards Admits to Sexual Affair; Lied as Presidential Candidate

Absolutely Edwards should resign. He should go back to his law practice, but hopefully this time not one that scams people.

True enough. Is Edwards done with politics? Clinton certainly isn’t.

Oral sex in the Oval office is not appropriate but for any ex-politician who is not holding office it is no ones business but the parties envolved.

How about this, if it affects the public, then it’s the public’s business. If a Clinton or an Edwards decides to do his intern/mistress on the White House lawn, in broad daylight, then I think that becomes public business.

If they keep it highly discrete then maybe not. Still, one would think that a man wanting to be president of the US wouild have enough brains to realize that a great many people are offended by adultery in their politicians. Maybe their views should be tolerated? Or even respected?

"Is it the public’s business? I guess that depends on how their actions effect their job in office. While I don’t think we should have TV cameras in their bedrooms, ther rest of their lives are public, like it or not". I agree but only to the extent they are representing the public.

    Hey guys,

This is an interesting issue for a few reasons. While I agree with Kathy that the sex lives of Pols shouldn’t be under the microscope, there are some things to consider.

Blackmail – Engaging in adultery is blackmail bait and is a stupid thing to do. This does speak to a lack of character. But then, I always though Edwards was character and ethics free.

More on Character – Republicans are flayed in the media when their "character" slips. I think Dems should get the same treatment. Or they should both be treated with a little more respect. Maybe this will help us hold our media to a higher standard? Nah…

Edwards is right that adultery is one of those things that reveals character, but what really reveals it is how a Pol, or anyone, stands up to the fire and how they recover from it.

And the story does reveal the hypocrisy of the mainstream media. It’s another nail in the coffin of their credibility that the Enquirer, of all papers, could run this story and give it legs. Especially since it would be front page news with certain other candidates.

Is it the public’s business? I guess that depends on how their actions effect their job in office. While I don’t think we should have TV cameras in their bedrooms, ther rest of their lives are public, like it or not.

Public or not? It … depends. How’s that for a hard and fast answer? ;)
