    • 1 Declaration: Energy Partisanship: How to Resolve the Problem

      Posted by scottkeiser

Energy has become one of the most divisive issues on Capital Hill today as Americans are pleading for a solutions to the high gas prices that are dragging down the US and global economy. Democrats and Republicans cannot seem to agree on an appropriate course of action. Democrats have been duped by environmentalists claiming global warming will kill us all or the caribou in Alaska or some other species will be devastated by drilling. Republicans seem to totally neglect the need for research into other alternative sources of energy claiming drilling will solve all our problems.

Could it be that both sides are right? Without a doubt.

    • Squawk Box Guest Warns of $12-15-a-Gallon Gas

      Posted by Damianmann

It may be the mother of all doom and gloom gas price predictions: $12 for a gallon of gas is "inevitable." Robert Hirsch, Management Information Services Senior Energy Advisor, gave a dire warning about the potential future of gas prices on CNBC's May 20 "Squawk Box". He told host Becky Quick there was no single thing that would solve the problem, due to the enormity of the problem.

    • House passes bill to sue OPEC over oil prices | Reuters

      Posted by Damianmann from Reuters

The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved legislation on Tuesday allowing the Justice Department to sue OPEC members for limiting oil supplies and working together to set crude prices, but the White House threatened to veto the measure. The bill would subject OPEC oil producers, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela, to the same antitrust laws that U.S. companies must follow.

America is rotting from the inside

      Posted by VincebusEruptum from Scholarsandrogues

Politicians are failing to comprehend the breadth of the US infrastructure crisis. Only disasters move our representatives to act - and in an election year, even those actions seem spotty at best and disingenuous at worst. The United States has much more than failing bridges to find, fund and fix. A comprehensive report by Dr. Denny Wilkins.

    Jeff, Jeff, Jeff,

First of all have you ever been to Madrid or London. Al Qaida will kill any Jew, Christian or Hindu they run across and then reload.  A border is not a good defense system for terrorism.  Second, the war and the value of the dollar have weakened us. It is just peculiar that it wasn’t Jimmy Carter who did it to us this time. Third of all the US owns the Stanley Cup (ever been to Detroit ?).  Forth where is Robert Rubin when we need him most !

I’m not sure how’d they feel about adding themselves to the top Al Qaida target list, taking on our ginormous deficit and having to wipe the floor with us on Friday nights in hockey.

One thing I don’t understand is if America is such a great country – why our currency has lost 1/3 of its value in the past 7 years against the Canadian dollar? Anyone? Anyone? My American buck used to be worth $1.55 CDN and now it’s barely even (on a good day).

You’re entitled to your own opinion (if you’re civil) but not your own facts.
