    • Wind power faces gathering storm

Posted by Shemuses from Globe and Mail

While a record amount of wind power is likely to come on-stream next year, with close to a dozen projects across the country set to be commissioned, questions about the safety of the turbines and the reliability of the power they generate are blowing across the landscape.

    • As the Auto Age Dawned, Gasoline Wasn't King

Posted by Jon from Washington Post

Gasoline shortages -- or the fear of a scarcity -- have alarmed motorists through two world wars and the Arab oil embargo in 1973. Today, there are concerns about the flow of oil from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska after BP PLC shut down its fields. Motorists worry about tensions in the Middle East interrupting supplies or driving up prices. Policymakers wonder whether hydrogen, ethanol or electric power will significantly supplement or even replace gasoline. The questions are not all that different from those asked during the earliest days of motoring through the 1920s.

    Jeff, Jeff, Jeff,

First of all have you ever been to Madrid or London. Al Qaida will kill any Jew, Christian or Hindu they run across and then reload.  A border is not a good defense system for terrorism.  Second, the war and the value of the dollar have weakened us. It is just peculiar that it wasn’t Jimmy Carter who did it to us this time. Third of all the US owns the Stanley Cup (ever been to Detroit ?).  Forth where is Robert Rubin when we need him most !

I’m not sure how’d they feel about adding themselves to the top Al Qaida target list, taking on our ginormous deficit and having to wipe the floor with us on Friday nights in hockey.

One thing I don’t understand is if America is such a great country – why our currency has lost 1/3 of its value in the past 7 years against the Canadian dollar? Anyone? Anyone? My American buck used to be worth $1.55 CDN and now it’s barely even (on a good day).

You’re entitled to your own opinion (if you’re civil) but not your own facts.
