    • Organic Waste Could Produce Half of Washington State's Energy

Posted by Jon from The Olympian

If all the organic waste generated in the state each year were converted to energy, it would meet 50 percent of the state's energy needs, according to a report released by the state Department of Ecology. Combined, the 45 sources total about 16.9 million tons of biomass capable of producing 1,770 megawatts of electricity, according to the report compiled by biological engineers from Washington State University.

    • Sweeping change reshapes Arctic

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Times

But with national debate so focused on the future of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which some in Congress last month again tried and failed to open to oil drilling, a reality is only now being noticed in the Lower 48: Arctic Alaska is already undergoing a sprawling transformation, and life is fundamentally shifting in almost every way.

    Jeff, Jeff, Jeff,

First of all have you ever been to Madrid or London. Al Qaida will kill any Jew, Christian or Hindu they run across and then reload.  A border is not a good defense system for terrorism.  Second, the war and the value of the dollar have weakened us. It is just peculiar that it wasn’t Jimmy Carter who did it to us this time. Third of all the US owns the Stanley Cup (ever been to Detroit ?).  Forth where is Robert Rubin when we need him most !

I’m not sure how’d they feel about adding themselves to the top Al Qaida target list, taking on our ginormous deficit and having to wipe the floor with us on Friday nights in hockey.

One thing I don’t understand is if America is such a great country – why our currency has lost 1/3 of its value in the past 7 years against the Canadian dollar? Anyone? Anyone? My American buck used to be worth $1.55 CDN and now it’s barely even (on a good day).

You’re entitled to your own opinion (if you’re civil) but not your own facts.
