NY's Tribeca to launch film festival in Qatar

A major goal of this festival, outside of entertainment, is to highlight the pluralism of Arab culture. Art is a powerful medium that can hopefully carry this message beyond Qatar and the Middle East to those who have a very narrow view of Arab culture.
Boy George goes on trial for false imprisonment

It is pretty sad when someone as seemingly well-grounded as Boy George was back in the 80's starts to act all, er, erratic. This week Boy goes on trial for taking the law into his own hands and falsely imprisioning someone he suspected of hacking into his computer after a nude photo shoot.

Michael Crichton, whose technological thrillers like "The Andromeda Strain" and "Jurassic Park" dominated best-seller lists for decades and were translated into Hollywood megahits, died on Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was 66 and lived in Santa Monica, Calif.
