The narrow margin of the U.S. Supreme Court’s rebuke to George W. Bush on military tribunals highlights the stakes on the table for the November 2006 congressional elections – nothing short of the survival of a meaningful constitutional system in the United States.

Bush administration stands accused of meddling in the WHO to suit the interests of Big Pharma

Posted by j1o2n3a4s5 from Los Angeles Times

This in depth investigative piece by the Asia Times Online delves into another shameful Bush administration policy goal, the extenstion of Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) across the world via free trade agreements and direct intervention to rein in the independence of the World Health Organization. After penning a piece that was strongly critical of TRIPS, and the U.S. government for desiring them, WHO representative William Aldis was recalled from Thailand prematurely despite excellent reports from those he worked with. Reclaiming The Issues: Islamic Or Republican Fascism?

Good column. Hartmann spells it out nicely. Bush isn't our first fascist president, however. Calvin Coolidge famously stated, "The business of America is business."
