Q&A with Firefox's Blake Ross: Extended version

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Some of the feedback we have gotten about the 2.0 release (test version) has been, what\\'s new here? It looks like the 1.0 release because most of the work that has been going on has been to make it more stable, how do we fix the memory problems that people are complaining about, how do we make everyday tasks easier – like spell-checking, for example, in Web forms. Little things that you\\'re not going to notice when you first fire up Firefox 2.0, but you\\'re going to use it for two weeks and say, yeah, this is definitely an overall better experience.

    • Attackers Exploit New Zero-Day Windows Bug

      Posted by bugeats from Cyberdogbiscuits.blogspot

"By default, Internet Explorer automatically opens the vulnerable Windows Picture and Fax Viewer application to display WMF files, making that browser the riskiest to use. But it's not the only threatened browser: Mozilla Corp.'s Firefox, for instance, defaults to the same application, as does Opera, although users must acknowledge a dialog box before opening the image." So, it's a browser exploit. crap.

I am excited for it – but I wish they would certify plug-ins a bit faster as they go along.

Firefox 3 Beta 3 Brings a New Browsing Interface

Maybe it’s the “resource hog” property of Firefox that has kept me away: my system seems alllergic to FF, as the whole thing overheats and shuts down within seconds of the program being accessed.

Perhaps I should try Beta 3, and see what happens.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0 Soon To Be Released

Sounds very cool. I will NEVER use a microsoft product again. So, this is great.

Try Ubuntu if you haven’t already. There’s no need for Windows anymore.
