      Mayor rules out Cherbourg contraceptive implants

      The Cherbourg Aboriginal Council has met the town s health service providers to confirm no young girls are receiving contraceptive implants. Last week, reports emerged that girls as young as 12, some with disabilities, were being given contraceptive implants in the Indigenous community of Woorabinda west of Rockhampton.

    • Huu-ay-aht First Nation approves new B.C. treaty

      The Huu-ay-aht First Nations voted 90 percent in favour of the Maa-nulth Treaty on Saturday. The 615-member band, which lives near Bamfield on Vancouver Island's west coast are the second First Nation in less than a week to approve a treaty negotiated under province's 14-year-old treaty process.

      FARMINGTON — Yellow socks, purple socks, black socks — 1,407 pairs to be exact, spilled from an array of boxes at the San Juan Rotary Club meeting Tuesday. Navajo Nation First Lady Vikki Shirley accepted the donation of socks in every shade, size and color from the Rotary Club.
