Mark Foley instant message chats with Congressional page

      Posted by Jeff from Pageoneq

Catholic priests and now another Republican congressman - when will people began to doubt the GOP's holier than thou rhetoric ? This is a creepy summary of Foley's IM with underage minors. Worth reading to understand the seriousness of what Hastert and other GOP leaders may have known.

GOP Leaders Knew of Foley E-Mail in '05

Posted by Jeff from AP News

The office of House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who earlier said he'd learned about the e-mails only last week, acknowledged that aides referred the matter to the authorities last fall. They said they were only told the messages were "over-friendly." Rep. Thomas Reynolds, who heads the House Republican election effort, said Saturday he told Hastert months ago about concerns that a fellow Republican lawmaker, Rep. Mark Foley, had sent inappropriate messages to a teenage boy.

      House Leaders Knew About Foley

Posted by Billbar from Washington Post

House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of inappropriate "contact" between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he then told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Boehner later contacted The Post and said he could not remember whether he talked to Hastert.

      Posted by Billbar from SFGate.com

Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., abruptly resigned from Congress on Friday in the wake of questions about e-mails he wrote a former teenage male page. "I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the people of Florida I have had the privilege to represent, yada, yada, yada" he said in a statement issued by his office.

Former Pages Describe Foley as Caring Ally

So, it was known as early as early as 2001 that Foley was ‘odd’ and the House leadership did nothing.

    House Leaders Knew About Foley

I guess a pedophile, if he’s a Republican, is worth keeping in the House. Thing is, Congressmen preying of pages is nothing new and they’ve never gone after them. Any wonder the American people have such a low opinion of Congress?

Foley Resigns From Congress Over E-Mails

From the section of Rep. Mark Foley’s House page labeled ‘Children’:

As a founder and co-chair of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children’s Caucus, Mark has been instrumental in the development and passage of legislation designed to protect our children [...] Mark also is a firm believer in finding and supporting innovative ways to encourage our children%u2019s educational horizons
