      Romney's Bizarre Hatred of France

      Posted by Jeff from Slate

"Enmity toward France, where Romney did his Mormon mission during college, is a recurring theme of the document. The European Union, it says at one point, wants to 'drag America down to Europe's standards,' adding: 'That's where Hillary and Dems would take us. Hillary = France.' The plan even envisions 'First, not France' bumper stickers."

It's sometimes said a vacation is what you take when you can't take what you've been taking any longer. This was exactly the kind of motivation that prompted travel writer Tamar Kevonian to take her first “solo” vacation in Europe.

    • French police arrest three as hundreds try to destroy GM crops

Posted by Billbar from Yahoo News!

French police arrested three people after hundreds of protesters including anti-globalisation icon Jose Bove tried to destroy a field in the Lot-et-Garonne area of southwest France of genetically-modified maize. Bove, a leading figure within the anti-globalisation movement who in the past has been imprisoned for similar actions, said the crops were indeed genetically modified. "We covered more than 400 hectares (990 acres) across the whole of the southwest to determine whether they were GM. Here, we were able to verify it," he said.

France pledges 1,600 more troops for Lebanon

      Posted by Billbar from Reuters

President Jacques Chirac said France decided to dispatch many more troops after winning U.N. assurances that the troops would be able to defend themselves fully if they came under attack and could use force to protect civilians. "Two thousand French troops will thus be placed under the United Nations in Lebanon. France is ready, if the United Nations wishes, to continue commanding this force," Chirac said in a televised address.

If Betancourt’s assertions are true, then the United States is once again responsible (at least in part) for the setting up of false ‘heroic rescues’ and similar phenomena.

We should not forget that intitial reports from Iraq claimed that Kurdish forces captured Saddam Hussein, who then turned him over to Coalition forces.

Neither should we forget the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch affairs.

Chirac was obviously challenged by Italy's offer to command the troops. Whatever works!
