Posted by Jeff from International Herald Tribune

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration confirmed earlier this week that H211, a limited liability company that counts Google's chief executive, Eric Schmidt, as one of its principals, had secured rights to operate a refurbished wide-body Boeing 767-200 out of Moffett Field, an airport that is run by NASA and is generally closed to private aircraft.

    • Microsoft to set time limit for storing data on Web searches

Posted by Jeff from Seattle Times

Microsoft is announcing changes to its privacy policy Monday that set a time limit on how long the company will retain data about customer queries through its search engine. The policy, seen as an attempt to distinguish itself from Google, also allows people to opt out of targeted ads by third-party advertisers using Microsoft's Windows Live service.

    • Official Google Blog: Google and health care

Posted by Damianmann from Google Blog

In this case, the blog criticized Michael Moore's new film "Sicko" to suggest how health care companies might use our ad programs when they face controversy. Our internal review of the piece before publication failed to recognize that readers would -- properly, but incorrectly -- impute the criticisms as reflecting Google's official position. We blew it.

Idealog: Is anyone getting hurt by Google and the Golden Fox?

      Posted by Jeff from Idealog.US

"Thanks to the Google agreement, the Mozilla Foundation went from revenue of nearly $6 million in 2004 to more than $52 million the next year...In 2005, the foundation created a subsidiary,...mainly to deal with the tax and other issues related to the Google contract." One result of this move is less transparency. Clearly, Firefox has been good for users, good for developers and has kept Microsoft from having de-facto control over Web standards. So if most of us are benefiting, should we care?

eBay To Disallow Checks and Money Orders In US

eBay has gone completely down the tubes. Meg Whitman gave a completely crock of s*** speech at the GOP convention. Her belief system may have been profitable thus far for ebay, but I suspect it’s heading downhill from here.
