Gore: Bush is 'renegade rightwing extremist'

Posted by Billbar from Guardian UK

Al Gore has made his sharpest attack yet on the George Bush presidency, describing the current US administration as "a renegade band of rightwing extremists". In an interview with the Guardian today, the former vice-president calls himself a "recovering politician", but launches into the political fray more explicitly than he has previously done during his high-profile campaigning on the threat of global warming.

    • Leading Climate Skeptic Compares Gore to Hitler

Posted by Billbar from Think Progress

In this weekend’s Washington Post magazine, meteorologist Bill Gray – one of the most prominent climate skeptics – directly compared Al Gore to Adolf Hitler: Gore believed in global warming almost as much as Hitler believed there was something wrong with the Jews.

The moral flaws of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

      Posted by Billbar from Slate

An Inconvenient Truth comes to the right conclusions about the seriousness of global warming; plus we ought to be grateful these days for anything earnest at the cineplex. But the film flirts with double standards. This raises the troubling fault of An Inconvenient Truth: its carelessness about moral argument.

    • Gore lawyer suggests election 'stolen'

      Posted by Billbar from Rawstory

Does he, like many Democrats, think the election was stolen? I put the question of Gore’s views on the matter to David Boies, his lawyer in the Florida-recount battle. "He thought the court’s ruling was wrong and obviously political," Boies says. So he considers the election stolen? "I think he does—and he’s right."

    • Bush Not Likely to See Gore's Film

Posted by Damianmann from Yahoo News!

"New technologies will change how we live and how we drive our cars which all will have the beneficial effect of improving the environment," Bush said. "And in my judgment we need to set aside whether or not greenhouse gases have been caused by mankind or because of natural effects and focus on the technologies that will enable us to live better lives and at the same time protect the enviroment."

Group: Gore a hypocrite over power bill

Indeed. Classic “attack the messenger by attempting to hoist them on their own straw-man petard.” Shame on the AP for mindlessly reprinting unsourced propaganda.

Group: Gore a hypocrite over power bill

First – you can see a picture of the antibellum style home (can’t tell if it’s modern or genuine) in this AP story.

Second – the source of the criticism is a conservative think-tank, The Tennessee Center for Policy Research. AP just reported the story – it did not do the research.

Third – how in the world can someone (person, organization) obtain power bills on someone else’s property? The power company says it hasn’t disclosed the bills: “But company spokeswoman Laurie Parker said the utility never got a request from the policy center and never gave it any information.”

Finally – it’s a classic ad hominem (attack the messenger), just taken to a new level.
