      Conservatives Happier Than Liberals

Posted by theangryindian from Live Science

Regardless of marital status, income or church attendance, right-wing individuals reported greater life satisfaction and well-being than left-wingers, the new study found. Conservatives also scored highest on measures of rationalization, which gauge a person's tendency to justify, or explain away, inequalities.

Experts hook source of fish abnormalities - swissinfo

      Posted by swissjourno

The deformities in whitefish from Lake Thun in Switzerland's Bernese Oberland are most likely caused by the plankton they feed on, a five-year study found.
Around 40 per cent of the fish show abnormalities in their reproductive organs, on a scale and in a variation that has not been seen anywhere else in the world, the authorities said on Wednesday.Experts hook source of fish abnormalities

    • Thousands play dangerous game, survey finds

Posted by Shemuses from Globe and Mail

A new survey says some 79,000 Ontario students are also playing a lethal "choking game" that has killed at least 82 children in the United States. The survey by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health found about 7 per cent of children in Grades 7 to 12 have been choked on purpose. The so-called "choking game" involves being throttled to the point of almost passing out and induces a brief high. Doctors at the centre say the game isn't new but shows that Ontario students are hurting themselves intentionally.

AP probe finds drugs in drinking water

There is something you can do about all the gross contaminates that are in our tap water without using the expensive and unhealthy reverse osmosis filters.

There are few filters on the market that are certified for the removal of synthetic organic chemicals (SOCs) and volatile organic chemicals (VOCs). Most prescription and over the counter drugs fall under those catagories. Check them out www.waterfiltercomparisons.com

I hope you find this information useful. Until there’s some standard set for the removal of prescription and OTC drugs I guess it’s up to us to do it on an individual basis.

Lights at night tied to breast cancer - and CFC bulbs...

Soooo, how many incandescent lightbulbs do we need to buy to get us through our entire lifetimes? The CFC bulbs are manufactured with mercury that’s released when it’s mined, released when the bulbs are broken and released when the bulbs are destroyed as hazardous waste. They supress melatonin and contribute to cancer. Incandescents contribute to the ambient heat in our homes, something I appreciate all winter long, which is when I use most of my lightbulbs. I’ll admit that possibly CFCs have their place, but they certainly shouldn’t be allowed to replace incandescents entirely!!
