    • Mr. Harper: Don't let Insite close

Posted by Shemuses from Globe and Mail

The positive impact on public security includes reducing the social nuisance associated with drug use and drug-related crime. Instead of punishing drug users, safe-injection sites provide the police with an opportunity to engage with the drug users and alleviate the harm drug use has traditionally caused communities. As such, police officers are able to develop a positive relationship with both the users and the society affected by drug use and drug-related crime. Furthermore, the people living in those communities affected most by high rates of drug abuse tend to feel safer after safe-injection sites have been implemented in their communities.

    • globeandmail.com: How to beat jet lag: Don't eat

Posted by MikeS from Globe and Mail

If you are enroute to or from somewhere give this a read before you have something to eat. With the increasing cost of fuel adding surcharges to airline tickets maybe we'll see an even better antidote to jet lag - keeping your feet planted firmly on the ground.

New Survey: 82% Of Americans Think Health Care Needs Major Overhaul

Towards the end of last year ( I work in health and wellness) and am a huge fan of high quality natural health products and supplementation. Anyway, I received an email from one of my colleagues , a poll rating health care systems from around the world. U.S. came in dead last! So this is an understatement. Thanks.

Global warming may increase kidney stones: researchers

Oh please, you have got to be kidding. Yes, people may have this issue if they move to, say, the Sahara, otherwise this is just silly. The world warms on about a 50 or so year cycle (did up old media reports) and the media goes nuts. It also goes nuts in the cooling cycles which are also about 50 or so years.

So I think the headline puts the article into the silly bin.

HHS Moves to Define Contraception as Abortion

The media keeps referring to Bush as a ‘Lame Duck President’, but this is just the sort of damage to freedom that people can expect from the Bush/Cheney White House before a new president is sworn into office in January.  They are expecting us to let down our guard.
