  One world, one set of accounting standards? Think again, it's not going to happen that quickly. There's a fair bit of resistance out there not to mention some unresolved issues. CFOs don’t want and regulators say it will take at least five years before we have global accounting rules.

  The US and Europe are heading towards one accounting standard by 2009. But what will the transition be like? Will there be glitches. There are warnings it will give companies room to play more games with their earnings. Watch this space.
