    • Democrats & Liberals:: The Solution is...... Amnesty

      Posted by Damianmann from watchblog

"The illegal immigration problem can not be solved without punishing employers of illegal aliens. We do not need a guest worker program that will brand some as second class citizens and will push worker wages in the U.S. downward. We do not need walls that are expensive and that will isolate America from its neighbors. It's abhorrent to even suggest that illegals be treated as felons."

    • Today's Immigration Battle - Corporatists vs. Racists

      Posted by Billbar from Kurtnimmo

Both the corporatists and the racists are fond of the mantra, "There are some jobs Americans won't do." It's a lie. Americans will do virtually any job if they're paid a decent wage. This isn't about immigration - it's about economics. Industry and agriculture won't collapse without illegal labor, but the middle class is being crushed by it.

Plans for US-Mexico border fence draw fire

      Posted by Billbar from Reuters

The fence would run for 22 miles across California, and 361 miles over the sun-blasted Arizona desert, a strip crossed by half of the 1.18 million immigrants nabbed on the border last year. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security described the planned barrier, which would run for 698 miles, as a "stupid fence" and said it would most likely be ineffective, while the Mexican government slammed it as a disgrace.

    • 500,000 March in L.A. Against Immigration Bill

Posted by Billbar from Washington Post

"I've been on the force 38 years, and I've never seen a rally this big," said Cmdr. Louis Gray Jr. Phoenix was similarly surprised Friday when an estimated 20,000 people gathered for one of the biggest demonstrations in city history. More than 10,000 marc

Deported in Coma, Saved Back in U.S.

I see no way this will ever be fixed as long as the world is driven by  the desire to amass money.. I do not say this in any altruistic sense,  just logic. This may be the best system we’ve got at the moment, but it is by no means a good one.

While I am by far (for the moment) much better off than these folks, I am by no means immune to perhaps having to choose between living and dying for myself and or a family member because of monetary constraints at some point.

B.C. apologizes for Komagata Maru incident

I’m all for political correctness under most circumstances, but this one kind of reeks of political pandering to me. And misplaced pandering, at that. Why apologise now for that incident, when a whole bunch of injustices perpetrated to two larger Asian immigrant populations in BC – the Chinese and Japanese – remain unanswered? Were earlier apologies for specific incidents supposed to be blanket apologies?

NPR: Bill Gates Targets Visa Rules for Tech Workers

NPR let Gates dodge most of the questions refusing to follow up or request him to answer the question they asked. Gates kept returning to his talking points.

Microsoft | Revamp visa system, Gates urges Congress | Seattle Times Newspaper

Gates seemed to laugh before he answered the question about whether more H1B visa workers depress wages in the U.S. The laugh seems like a tell to me i.e. he’s lying.
