    • Man divorces wife in sleep

      A Muslim couple in India has been told by local Islamic leaders they must separate after the husband uttered the word "talaq," or divorce, three times in his sleep. "This is a totally unnecessary controversy and the local 'community leaders' or whosoever has said it are totally ignorant of Islamic law," said Zafarul-Islam Khan, an Islamic scholar.

    • 'Many dead' in India rebel attack

      At least 25 people have been killed after Maoist rebels blew up two trucks carrying civilians in India's central state of Chhattisgarh. The victims were tribal people returning from a meeting called to protest against the Maoists' activities in the state.
