Hillary Clinton Talks Chelsea, Angelina and Madonna

      Posted by gmc1

Hillary Clinton attended a fundraiser in New York City. The event was an Elton John Concert to benefit her campaign war chest. She fielded questions about her daughter Chelsea on the campaign trail. She also weighed in on reports that she is 10th cousins to Angelina Jolie and Madonna.

    • A darling of the neocons tells why he bailed out

      Posted by Damianmann from SFGate.com

I think now what people associate with neoconservatism are these ideas of benevolent hegemony, unilateralism, the use of American power to fix problems with terrorists or WMDs and the like. But that was not necessarily implicit in what a lot of neoconservatives believed in earlier periods and in fact directly contradicted it in many ways.

Correction: McClellan tells Today show Bush authorized Libby to leak National Intelligence Assessment on Iraq

I always find it odd, but how can anything be "tainted" by "profit motive" in a capitalist society? Public displays of altruism would equally face scorn for McClellan, whether it was Arianna Huffington or Sean Hannity. What matters finally is the work, whether it has something that is historically sustainable. Work that is useful can be produced by scoundrels. Opera still performs Richard Wagner, does it not?

BeerDoctor, I still think McClellan was so dishonest and evasive as spokesman that his attempts to come clean here are not better late than never but tainted instead by profit motive.

If he really wanted to do good, he should donate 75% of the book’s proceeds to charity and erase the unseemliness of speaking out now to promote book sales.

Much of the complaints from the left about McClellan’s book seem to miss the main point. This is a memoir from a disillusioned true believer of George W Bush, who’s roots go all the way back to Texas. How strange that the White House and their minions speak of disloyalty, who they themselves  deliberately instructed McClellan to lie to the American people.
Whatever money is made from the book, that is a ridiculous attempt to discredit the content. The rants at Fox News claim McClellan was just in it for the money. That is truly rich, from a crowd that has made a thriving cottage industry marketing nonsense.

Due to the fact that everyone knows that Plame’s ID was leaked by Armitage, one has to wonder how much McClellan thinks he will make from this soon to be best seller. By the way, the only reason Armitage leaked her ID was because her hubby was running around telling everyone that they had to listen to him because "My wife works for the CIA."

A recording of this very conversation is on the net.

    Here’s the interview: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/24870079#24870079

Watching that, I don’t think it is so clear that he’s saying Bush authorized the Plame leak.
