    • AT&T says official iPhone 3G tethering plan coming

      Posted by Jeff from Appleinsider

Does anyone want to assume my Verizon broadband modem account? He pointed out that AT&T offers a tethering solution to users of Research In Motion's BlackBerry smartphones for an additional $30 per month, and said he'd be willing to shell out the extra change each month for the same luxury. In a response, Jobs reportedly wrote back saying, "We agree, and are discussing it with AT&T."

    • iPhone Data Boom Not Good for AT&T Profits

      Posted by Jeff from crunchgear.com

AT&T is reporting a boom in customer acquisition and, it seems, a bust in profits. According to a recent earnings report, the company activated 2.4 million iPhones but lost $900 million in third-quarter earnings as a result of all the data and voice blowing through Apple's darling. The iPhone, we see, is a double-edged sword. Because it goes out to early adopters and folks who understand mobile data, AT&T faces the same problems MVNOs like Helio faced in the U.S.: aim at heavy data users and get hit for data usage. While this is a testament to the majesty of Steve Jobs, it's also a problem for AT&T. How can they keep making profits if they're spending on their cash on network upgrades?

I never thought I’d say this, but I sorta feel sorry for Microsoft.

Scientific tests reveal iPhone contains hazardous chemicals and materials, says Greenpeace

ah, thanks for clarity in response. Sounds very rational to me: whatever it takes. Sounds human, too. With such motivations, who is to say what is right or wrong?

    God save us all….

Nice Damiann. I walked past Union Station in Toronto and a Greenpeace activist asked me for “a minute of my day?” What’s next? Two minutes? Damn activists…

I did notice that Canadian activists are nicer than those at home in the states who just stand in your way and try to start talking to you.

“The only thing better than one minute with an activist is two minutes with an activist baby.”

yeah…that’s right…Greenpeace just want publicity. They have no other intentions..,.like saving the environment . They JUST want publicity.

Cause publicity isn’t important for the environmental movement. There isn’t any media effort to downplay the problems….there aren’t any corporations with big bucks paying out the wazoo to keep it out of the public eye or public discussion.

NO! It’s GREENPEACE just trying to stroke it’s own collective ego.

Didn’t Greenpeace admit that they’re after publicity by going after Apple???
I’m not saying I enjoy toxic materials in my products or environment, just questioning motives.

Maybe the iPhone is so cool, it’s the “cigarette” of the oughts (‘00s)

“I know it’s bad for me, but I like to hold it in my hand”

    or

    “I know I should but I can’t quit”
