The manoeuvres against Musharraf bear uncanny resemblances to organised 'people's power' the CIA unleashed during 'colour revolutions' and upheavals against Hugo Chavez.

Red Cross: Millions of Iraqis at Risk from Contaminated Water

Ten liters of bottled water costs 50 cents, but many Iraqis cannot afford it, drinking water from polluted rivers instead. Improved security has failed to prevent Iraq becoming the scene of one of the world's most critical humanitarian disasters with water supplies and sewage systems putting millions at risk of disease, the Red Cross said today.

Vermont Attorney General challenger Charlotte Dennett and famous prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi reiterated that the state of Vermont would have clear jurisdiction in the prosecution of George Bush for the deaths of Vermont soldiers in Iraq. In the Community Room of the Fletcher Free Library in Burlington on Oct. 24, before a lively audience, Dennett and Bugliosi contended that the "effects" principle of the law gave state prosecutors jurisdiction if it could be shown that a crime which occurred outside the territorial jurisdiction of the state had a harmful effect on the people of the state. Vermont has the highest per capita loss of soldiers in Iraq of any state in the nation.

Newswise Medical Substantial Proportion of Female Veterans Report Military Sexual Trauma

According to preliminary research results from the Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 15 percent of recently returned female veterans utilizing the VA health care system report experiencing sexual trauma during military service.

The cross-sectional study, presented at the American Public Health Association's 136th Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego, examined health care screening data of over 100,000 veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) who utilized medical care at any Veterans Health Administration facility during a six-year period.

Perhaps you see rows of uniformed soldiers marching in step, or tanks and armored vehicles traveling in convoy, or the U.S. military's televised "Shock and Awe" precision bombings over Iraq. The reality, however, is that the majority of wars today are intrastate conflicts fought with small arms.

Eight die in US attack inside Syria: official media

American helicopter-borne troops launched an assault on Sunday on a building in a Syrian border village with Iraq, killing eight civilians, official Syrian media reported.

The government has summoned the official US and Iraqi representatives to protest, state television and the official SANA news agency said.
