Viacom's Hostility to Web Users Continues

      Posted by Jeff from Dailyshownews

Since launching its new Web site for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Comedy Central network, whose parent company is Viacom, has as yet not offered an RSS feed for clips of the popular show (for now, you can use this one). As it releases new shows, such as Lewis Black's Root of All Evil and Lil Bush, it does so without providing an RSS feed for clips, as it used to here for earlier shows.

Daily Show's Stewart 'Quietly Visiting' Ailing Iraq Soldiers

Posted by Jeff from Huffington Post

Turns out the comedian has been quietly visiting soldiers at Walter Reed and Bethesda hospitals, trips he began in 2004 to better understand the Iraq war. "I felt that I was living in a world of theory," he told the audience, "but I hadn't touched the reality and the humanity of it." The first patient he met was "funnier than I was" -- and Stewart's been a regular ever since.

Young adults eschew traditional nightly news for

Posted by Jeff from Philadelphia Inquirer

Before Katie Couric was signed last year, rumors surfaced that Comedy Central's Jon Stewart might be in the running to anchor CBS Evening News. The idea may not be as ludicrous as it sounds. If Stewart did anchor a Big 3 evening newscast, young adults might actually watch it.

    • Stewart Does Stand Up

      Posted by Jeff from timesdispatch.com

Stewart, the host of Comedy Central's news-skewering "The Daily Show," strapped on his stand-up persona last night at John Paul Jones Arena before a fawning audience that epitomized his appeal -- University of Virginia students in backward baseball caps, well-dressed 40-somethings, folks who mirrored Stewart's casual khakis and pullover sweater look and one surely embarrassed 12-year-old.

McCain's IED Joke With Jon Stewart Draws Criticism

Kind of reminds me of Bush looking around for those WMDs.

McCain's IED Joke With Jon Stewart Draws Criticism

I’m not a John McCain fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I really think this article took his comments out of context. He’s said some much more deliberately offensivethings throughout his campaign, and to nit-pick at misinterpreted comments like this really destroys the credibility of those who deliberately have intelligent arguments against his policies. This is the same thing as Obama’s preacher story… Let’s not be hypocrites.

    Daily Show lampoons Lieberman run

IT IS NO SECRET THAT LIEBERMAN HAS AN "ISRAEL FIRST" AGENDA AND THAT HE HAS NO PROBLEM LETTING THE AMERICAN SOLDIERS DIE AND THE U.S. SPEND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN IRAQ  BECAUSE THEN ISRAEL DOESN’T HAVE TO.  I CAN’T BELIEVE THE GOOD AND DIGNIFIED PEOPLE OF CONNECTICUT CONTINUE TO ALLOW THIS NASAL WHINING CREEP TO PUSH THIS AWFUL ILLEGAL WAR IN IRAQ TO MAKE ISRAEL FEEL SAFER AND TO LET AMERICA’S YOUNG SOLDIERS DIE  WHILE ISREAL SPENDS NOTHING, SACRIFICES NONE OF THEIR OWN AND, AS USUAL, TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE U.S.’S WILLINGNESS TO HELP "PROTECT" THEM.  AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED  JOE LIEBERMAN IS A TRAITOR  TO AMERICA AND SHOULD MOVE TO ISRAEL AND TRY TO SERVE ISRAEL THERE INSTEAD OF USING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND RESOURCES TO DO IT HERE WHILE HE TRIES TO PASS HIMSELF OFF AS AN AMERICAN AND A PATRIOT.   HE IS NEITHER.  I DETEST HIS PRESENCE IN WASHINGTON D.C.  AND CAN’T BEAR TO LOOK AT HIM ON TV MUCH LESS LISTEN TO THE SOUND OF HIS NASALLY,  WHINY, THROATY  ANNOYING LITTLE VOICE.
