  An Ontario boy can legally have two mothers and a father, the province's highest court ruled Tuesday. The same-sex partner of the child's biological mother went to court seeking to also be declared a mother of the boy.

- Libya Sentences 6 to Die in H.I.V. Case

  PARIS, Dec. 19 — A Libyan court on Tuesday again sentenced five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor to be shot by a firing squad for deliberately infecting more than 400 children with H.I.V., more than 50 of whom have died. The decision complicates Libya’s efforts to improve relations with the West.

  For people who saw the event on television earlier this month, the scene was like a chilling blast from a past that is 30 years distant: social outcasts and supposed criminals — in this case 100 or so prostitutes and a few pimps — paraded in front of a jeering crowd, their names revealed, and then driven away to jail without trial.

Obama’s comments on Australia’s prime minister were hilarious. I doubt Cheney will absorb much feedback. He’s not that kind of guy.
