Was Ken Lay a typical CEO?

      Posted by SoxFirst

Was Ken Lay a typical CEO? One study suggests he was. According to the research, Lay was relatively well informed about Enron at a high level but it's unlikely that he would have had detailed information on many of Enron's more dubious transactions. The study is a warning for other CEOs.

Kenneth Lay's Conviction Erased From Record -

Posted by Damianmann from Washington Post

A federal judge in Houston this afternoon wiped away the fraud and conspiracy conviction of Kenneth L. Lay, the Enron Corp. founder who died of heart disease in July, bowing to decades of legal precedent but frustrating government attempts to seize nearly $44 million from his estate. The ruling worried employees and investors who lost billions of dollars when the Houston energy trading company filed for bankruptcy protection in December 2001. It also came weeks after Congress recessed for the November elections without acting on a last-ditch Justice Department proposal that would have changed the law to allow prosecutors to seize millions in investments and other assets that Lay controlled.

    • NYT column: Many bloggers think Ken Lay still lives

      Posted by Damianmann from Rawstory

When Kenneth L. Lay, Enron's former chairman and chief executive, shuffled off this mortal coil last week (a heart attack as the family vacationed in Colorado, the coroner said), there was an immediate sense in the blogosphere that something was rotten in Aspen," writes Tom Zeller Jr. in a column slated for Monday's edition of The New York Times, RAW STORY has found. Zeller claims that from "one corner of the Web to another," bloggers displayed "a wide lack of credulity at the idea that the man had died at all," and presents examples from a Live Journal diary, a couple comments left at Metafilter, and blogger Dave Roberts at Evil Bobby.

The ghost of Ken Lay and the university chair

As far as conspiracy theories go, I wouldn’t be surprised to find Ken Lay alive one day. Maybe he can chair this from wherever he is…

they say "bloggers" in such a sweeping way. Like ALL bloggers are insane or something. And we ALL agree on these things...because we're "bloggers"
