      France pledges 1,600 more troops for Lebanon

      President Jacques Chirac said France decided to dispatch many more troops after winning U.N. assurances that the troops would be able to defend themselves fully if they came under attack and could use force to protect civilians. "Two thousand French troops will thus be placed under the United Nations in Lebanon. France is ready, if the United Nations wishes, to continue commanding this force," Chirac said in a televised address.

      Thousands of Lebanese soldiers were set to head south Thursday to take over territory seized by Israel in its war with Hezbollah. But Lebanon said its army wouldn't be disarming the militants or searching for their weapons. Lebanese officials said it was a compromise to avoid a confrontation with Hezbollah, an increasingly powerful force in Lebanon since the monthlong war.

      Bush Calls Lebanon Third Front on Terror

      Commit him or impeach him? Bush stated that the administration is now operating a war on terror on three fronts: Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon. The president is hopeful that a UN Security Council resolution, calling for international troops to help the Lebanese central government gain control of Hezbollah-dominated areas, will take this over on this new "front".

    No Hezbollah at Qana. All those is south Lebanon are terrorists. Israel has lost any moral authority it had in this battle.
