Beth Arnold: On The Road Again (How The Press Led Us Astray) on The Huffington Post
Posted by Damianmann from Huffington Post
Why were we so surprised by Barack Obama's clear ring of a victory on Tuesday? The short answer is that the media had been leading us down the path marked Hillary Momentum--the path on which she could possibly snatch victory, however it was achieved, out of the jaws of defeat--while Obama was losing his. Obviously, this was wrong and had been for some time.

Al-Jazeera cameraman freed from Guantanamo after six years
Posted by Shemuses from Globe and Mail
An Al-Jazeera cameraman was released from U.S. custody at Guantanamo Bay and returned home to Sudan early Friday after six years of imprisonment that drew worldwide protests. Sami al-Haj arrived at the airport in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, on a U.S. military plane along with two other Sudanese released from Guantanamo. Mr. al-Haj was the only journalist from a major international news organization held at Guantanamo and many of his supporters saw his detention as punishment for a network whose broadcasts angered U.S. officials. The military alleged he was a courier for a militant Muslim organization, an allegation his lawyers denied.
Matt Taibbi questions America's sanity

The quest for quality journalism and for the truth about the fast sell on the Iraq war just hit a new low. And today, in the ensuing days, our loyal Bush lapdog news outlets are either dismissing the damning revelation or pretending it never happened.
The BRAD BLOG : Hillary Clinton: The Luckiest Woman in the World
Posted by Damianmann from Brad Blog
With 99.51% of the vote reportedly counted as of this moment, according to the PA Dept. of State s own numbers, it s Clinton s 54.6% to Obama s 45.4%. So, in truth, that s actually just a 9.2-point difference, but, as luck would have it for the New York Senator, rounding each of those numbers to their nearest percent, as the bulk of the media were happy to do today, allows for a nice, easily-trumpeted, double-digit, 55% to 45% number that can be reported far and wide!
