      Posted by Jeff from CNN

Urge launches with over 2 million tracks for purchase or as part of an all-you-can eat subscription, an option the iTunes music store doesn't have. The offering will include exclusive material from MTV, though it will not be compatible with iPods, which are currently the most popular MP3 player. NO IPOD! :)

    • A Marriage Not Made in Heaven

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

But considering that Palm's designers once worshipped at the altar of interface excellence, it's a shame that Microsoft's convoluted software has produced such an awkward marriage with the hardware. Longtime Treo fans, in particular, will be absolutely baffled by the new software layout.

    • Options Market Activity Fuels Microsoft - Yahoo Acquisition Rumors

      Posted by Jeff from Idealog.US

Within days (of Google's deal with AOL), speculation was rampant that Microsoft, determined to keep itself in the game, had offered to buy Yahoo Inc. for $80 billion. If rumors were to be believed, the Microsoft bid a premium of more than 30% over the Web giant's current market value was rejected by Yahoo as too low. Now, Reuters reports that the options market for Yahoo shares is heating up as well: On Tuesday, a combined total of 103,673 Yahoo options traded in the U.S. options market -- dominated by more than 81,000 calls, more than its normal volume of 35,449 contracts, according to market research firm Track Data.

    Microsoft abandons Yahoo bid

This Yahoo bid was stupid from the beginning. Microsoft was going to spend all its cash to chase Google in the advertising business? Huh? Ballmer clearly backed down when he didn’t want to ante up. I suspect the Microsoft board had second thoughts as well.

Microsoft's $528 million Washington tax break

You are misunderstanding – this is about Washington B & O taxes on corporations, not income taxes.

Blodget: MicroHoo ‘is gonna be a disaster’

At best a year to get the deal closed, two for integration. Multiple groups on each side working on similar projects… Sounds like a great idea and a nightmare to integrate.

Your concern that Microsoft is avoiding paying income taxes to the State of Washington is based on the erroneous belief that there is an income tax in Washington. Please check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_income_tax

I really don’t know what you’re belly aching about.

Bill Gates Issues Call For Kinder Capitalism

I honestly never would have predicted such thinking from BG several years ago.

What I want to see now is the staunch capitalist’s response to such thinking. Maybe the Economist will have something (dismissive and venomous, as usual) to say about it…
