    • DoD Watchers Mull the Next President

      Posted by okami from Military

Kansas City Star | By Scott Canon | February 20, 2008 Truman had MacArthur. Kennedy stumbled into the Bay of Pigs. George W. Bush returned the force of nature that is Donald Rumsfeld to the Pentagon. Whoever becomes the next commander in chief will wade into the sometimes uneasy world where admirals and generals cross paths, and sometimes swords, with presidents.

    • Rigged Trials at Guantanamo

Posted by okami from Truth Out

The litany of complaints about the legal treatment of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay is long, disturbing and by now familiar. If Betancourt’s assertions are true, then the United States is once again responsible (at least in part) for the setting up of false ‘heroic rescues’ and similar phenomena.

We should not forget that intitial reports from Iraq claimed that Kurdish forces captured Saddam Hussein, who then turned him over to Coalition forces.

Neither should we forget the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch affairs.

What about the rising trend of soldiers and Marines who are asking to go back to Iraq after having limbs amputated? Interesting that the article missed this.

If Korean civilians are murdered in a forest and no one hears them fall, is it really a massacre?
