      Idealog: Is anyone getting hurt by Google and the Golden Fox?

      "Thanks to the Google agreement, the Mozilla Foundation went from revenue of nearly $6 million in 2004 to more than $52 million the next year...In 2005, the foundation created a subsidiary,...mainly to deal with the tax and other issues related to the Google contract." One result of this move is less transparency. Clearly, Firefox has been good for users, good for developers and has kept Microsoft from having de-facto control over Web standards. So if most of us are benefiting, should we care?

    • Students Embarrass eBay With Firefox Add-On

      An anonymous reader sends along a posting from the Grooveking blog on a group of Stanford students who got together to help promote Firefox and ended up releasing a long overdue eBay Toolbar for Firefox before Mozilla and eBay could release their jointly developed extension in Europe. Mozilla's COO said the preemptive release of the eBay Toolbar had ruffled some feathers among European eBay execs.

      I'm so happy with my SpamArrest/Gmail set up, I may not care... Thunderbird 2.0 is out. Thunderbird is the free, open email client that does for email what Firefox does for browsing: liberates you from proprietary software, proprietary formats and expensive upgrades and puts desktop mail back into the control of the community of users.
