      Mayor rules out Cherbourg contraceptive implants

      The Cherbourg Aboriginal Council has met the town s health service providers to confirm no young girls are receiving contraceptive implants. Last week, reports emerged that girls as young as 12, some with disabilities, were being given contraceptive implants in the Indigenous community of Woorabinda west of Rockhampton.

      Srebrenica Genocide Children Shot in Head

      This graveyard of Bosniak victims of Srebrenica massacre is one of many in the area. The leaders of Bosnian Serb forces did their best to hide their crimes. The victims were shot to death and they included children who were between 7 and 11 years old. Over 8,000 Bosniaks died during Srebrenica genocide.

      Srebrenica genocide (7/11 1995) was systematic slaughter of 8,000 Bosniaks who were under the supposed protection of the United Nations. Srebrenica massacre has been judicially proven and recognized as genocide by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and subsequently by the International Court of Justice at the Hague. In addition, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, as well as the U.S. Senate Resolution recognize this massacre as genocide.

    • Huu-ay-aht First Nation approves new B.C. treaty

      The Huu-ay-aht First Nations voted 90 percent in favour of the Maa-nulth Treaty on Saturday. The 615-member band, which lives near Bamfield on Vancouver Island's west coast are the second First Nation in less than a week to approve a treaty negotiated under province's 14-year-old treaty process.
